Climate Change and Reducing Emission from Deforestation & Forest Degradation Workshop
Climate Change remains one of the biggest challenges across Africa in the 21st century. Africa School
of Project Management (ASPM) will be bringing together delegates across Africa to deliberate, learn
and share experiences on Climate change & sustainable development, REDD+ and Green Climate
Change Fund (GCF).
In-order to better understand the current global climate change, the discourse will focus on the
historic, prehistoric climate change before considering the scientific prognosis for climate change.
The discourse will explore options for mitigation and adaptation. The workshop will also explore
Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+). Some of the elements
that will be covered include; the Project implementation of REDD+ at regional, country, county and
community levels including the current financial resources available. The discussion will also cover
how to engage the relevant stakeholders to principles of good governance.
The Green Climate Fund (GCF) is the world’s largest dedicated fund helping developing countries
reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and enhance their ability to respond to climate change.
GCF aims to catalyse a flow of climate finance to invest in low-emission and climate-resilient
development, driving a paradigm shift in the global response to climate change. The discourse on
GCF will aim to achieve the following; Have a better understanding of the Financial Management
instruments, fiduciary compliance and project/program monitoring, evaluation, and reporting
techniques and systems. Understand the private sector accreditation processes for financial
