Project Management, Monitoring & Evaluation and Formulation of Fundraising Proposals

Project management has become an organizational –wide core competency, nearly every project implementation staff/Team (PIT) regardless of discipline is involved in managing one or more projects. This training is designed to provide project staffs with knowledge and skills that cut across all types of projects.

The key to a successful project is in the planning and management: being clear on the objectives, deciding how to work together as a team, thinking through how to approach the scope, setting up a schedule and budget, understanding clearly what will make the deliverable acceptable to the client of the project. The easiest way to plan a project is to have those who will execute the work help with the planning. This has the added benefit that the team is ready to hit the ground running during execution.

Procurement, Logistics & Supply Chain Management

This course will cover the principles of procurement management, which is acquiring products and services needed for the project from outside the project team. The Procurement Management processes from the PMBOK® Guide will be reviewed including inputs, key tools and techniques, and outputs. Typical procurement activities will be described from the make-or-buy decision to contract award to contract closure. The key elements that should be included in a procurement management plan will be presented. The stages of a contract negotiation will also be reviewed. This course will review key contract terminology, selection criteria and the key elements of a contract. The types of contracts that can be used will be reviewed including variations of fixed price, cost reimbursable, time and material. Selecting the correct contract type and dealing with contract risks will also be covered. This course includes multiple exercises to allow delegates to practice the course concepts.

Advanced Executive Office management and Administration

  • An administrator/executive assistant is responsible for providing financial services, budget preparation, procurement, travel arrangements, property control, and general administration. Disaster Mitigation, Management & Emergency Operation

Disaster preparedness refers to measures taken to prepare for and reduce the effects of disasters. That is, to predict and—where possible—prevent them, mitigate their impact on vulnerable populations, and respond to and effectively cope with their consequences.

Disaster preparedness is a continuous and integrated process resulting from a wide range of activities and resources rather than from a distinct sectoral activity by itself. It requires the contributions of many different areas—ranging from training and logistics, to health care to institutional development.

Climate Change & Sustainable Development

Applications of Geographical Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing in project

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) have become key in project management; with 80% of all data having a spatial element. GIS and GPS are rapidly evolving to become standard tools, influencing decision making in various sectors and in project management. There is however a severe shortage of persons who are trained to use these techniques in various projects.

This action packed course is structured to maximize your knowledge of GIS. You will be taken through theoretical concepts and comprehensive hands-on training associated with GIS and GPS, software and hardware requirements for GIS, data input, spatial database creation, principles of GIS spatial analysis, production of GIS outputs and potential applications of GIS. All practicums will be done using Quantum GIS.

Quantum GIS (QGIS) is a user friendly Open Source Geographic Information System. It runs on Windows, Linux, Unix and Mac OSX and supports numerous vector, raster, and database formats and functionalities.

Data Analysis & Management
