Project Management For Donor Funded Project Training.

Course Overview.

The main objective of this training is to enhance the capacity and understanding of the delegates in designing, planning, executing, monitoring and evaluating donor funded projects. Over the last few years, the resource envelope for the donors is dwindling, hence becoming for competitive to win the grants. The donors are also very keen on value for money for projects. The projects must also demonstrate sustainable long-term impact for the projects. The training will also ensure comprehensive understanding through hands on examples and filed visits on Project Cycle Management, Logical framework Approach, Monitoring and Evaluation, Project Identification, Project Formulation, Appraisal and Project Implementation. Participants will able to design project/programmes that meet the requirements of the major Donors and Development Partners.

 

Course Objectives.

Program Managers and officers attending the training will get hands on skills in the following areas;

  • Identify and understand the critical terms and conditions of grant aid for donor-funded projects (World Bank, USAID etc.)
  • Understand the funding trends of major Development Partners
  • Know how to design a project according to the Logical Framework Approach
  • Know how to design a Monitoring and Evaluation System
  • Know how to accurately choose indicators and sources of verification
  • Understand how to apply the 5 evaluation criteria used by the major Donors/Development partners
  • Ensure compliance with donor terms and conditions;
  • Managing multiple-funded programs
  • Provide tools for efficient Management of Donor- funded project
  • Design and monitor donor budgets
  • Describe the phases in the grant management cycle clarify key responsibilities and routines needed for successful grant management.
  • Identify the requirements for closing off a donor grant.
  • Appreciate that finance and program staff must work closely for Successful grant management

Way forward After the Training

Training Evaluation:

Participants will undertake a simple assessment before the training to gauge  knowledge and skills and another assessment will be done after the training in-order to demonstrate knowledge gained through the training.
